After we have visited the former Cistercian monastery in the village of Cârța, it was time drive towards Porumbacu de Sus. This village is very popular in Romania because there you will find the Clay Castle built almost entirely from natural materials. Also the castle has a interesting and unique architecture which reminds me of some castles from fairy tales, probably that’s why some people actually called this place The Clay Castle of the Valley of Fairies. Back when we visited this place it was packed with tourists from all over Romania. Since the Făgăraș mountains are actually pretty close, if you visit this place in early spring, you will have the chance the see the peaks covered with snow. All in all, we enjoyed our short stop there and I highly encourage you to check this place out especially if you are in the nearby area.
